Delighted for the players - Rick
 Women's Football News 13 Feb 2010

Delighted for the players - Rick - 13 Feb 2010 - Women's Football NewsLeeds Carnegie manager Rick Passmoor was understandably delighted following his side's 3-1 victory over Everton in the Premier League Cup Final.

"We've got a good set of players who are maturing fast," he said. "Tonight's performance might not have been beautiful on the eye but we deserved to win. We had our backs to the wall a little bit in the second half but we defended solidly.

"Ellen White is an excellent player who has been superb for us and she showed that she has a great future in the game. Laura Bassett was solid in defence alongside Bradders (Sophie Bradley) and it was vitally important our engine room competed today - and they did. The energy and athleticism of Katie Holtham and Jade Moore was terrific.

"There was not one weak link in the chain. I'm delighted for the players and the work they have done.

"Hopefully we can carry on with this appetite into the league programme as the league title is still on."

Mo Marley graciously conceded that Leeds were the better side. "It's a reality check for us and very disappointing," she reflected. "As a team we couldn't cope with the conditions but credit to Leeds, they capitalised on it well and deserved to win.

"Our first half performance was simply not good enough and I told the players so at half time.

"The players must develop a winning mentality, aspire to achieve things and want to play well when they are the favourites."
