West Riding County FA have recently worked in partnership with Bradford City FITC, and the Thornton Grammar School Sports Partnership, to provide further opportunities for young girls to play football in Bradford.

Years 3 and 4 girls from Springwood Primary and Lidget Green Primary school both took part in a six week block of free football coaching held at Manningham Sports Centre Bradford, on a Tuesday morning. Over 25 girls attended on a weekly basis, with the majority from an ethnic minority background.

The girls spent their time learning basic techniques and applying them in game related situations, whilst making new friends and gaining experience of different multi skills activities.

Much appreciation must go to the Primary Link Teachers at both schools; Carla Mawson and Luke Swift, for giving their girls the opportunity to be a part of this project. Also a thanks to Khalil Hussain (Springwood Primary School), and Richard Nicols and Andy Webster (Thornton Grammar Schools Sport Partnership) for their much needed support.

The WRCFA will be launching another block of coaching sessions to other primary schools in this partnership in the New Year, aiming at years 5 and 6. Should any other schools in the partnership wish to be part of this project please contact Sarah Wood on (0113) 282 2358 or sarah.wood@wrcfa.com.
