Newcastle Utd battled back from two goals down to snatch a 2-2 draw with Derby County in the only Northern Division match to survive the weather. Derby had looked to be keeping up their improving run of results with a crucial victory against the Magpies, who were seeking a fifth successive victory. They raced into a two-goal lead before the half hour mark, thanks to a double from Melissa Johnson. Newcastle reduced the arrears with twenty minutes remaining when Steph O'Brien followed up to score after Melanie Reay's initial shot had come back off the post. The comeback was completed twelve minutes later as Reay netted a free kick which went into the net via the post and keeper. The point takes Newcastle into fifth place whilst Derby edge further away from the bottom two places.
