Arsenal took a firm grip on their UEFA Women's Champions League tie with a 3-0 away first leg victory over Sparta Prague.
Defender Gilly Flaherty gave Arsenal the lead in the eleventh minute after Sparta failed to properly execute an offside trap, which left six Arsenal players with time and space in front of goal. The England under-19 international coolly lobbed the ball over Lenka Gadzikova for the opening goal.
The second goal came shortly before the half hour mark, Helen Lander heading home from a Rachel Yankey corner.
Arsenal wrapped up a convincing victory ten minutes into the second half by netting the third. Kim Little was brought down in the area and the Scottish international picked herself to slot home from the resulting penalty.
The second leg takes place at Boreham Wood next Wednesday (1.30pm) and Arsenal have announced that entry to the ground is free.
