London FA is pleased to announce the launch of two new soccer centres in South London for girls aged 8-12 years. The idea behind the centres is to offer girls the opportunity to take part in organised football sessions outside of school time, in a safe and friendly environment. One of the aims of the sessions is to get more girls playing football in the local area and they hope that by being linked in with two of the big local football clubs, Charlton Athletic and Millwall FC, that it will help attract more girls. The London FA are hoping to be able to form small teams from these sessions and eventually enter them into a local league if there is enough interest. They are pleased to have the funding and backing of the London Playing Fields Foundation, who have a very keen involvement in the development of female football in London. The two sessions will take place on Saturday's starting on the 31st October, the first running at London Marathon Sports Ground, Shooters Hill Road, Greenwich from 10-12noon and will be run by Charlton Athletic, and the second session will take place at the Millwall Community Scheme, The Lions Den, Bolina Road from 12-1.30pm, and be run by Millwall FITC and the London FA CSC. Both sessions will be run by qualified coaches, and will cost just £2 to attend. There will also be the opportunity to attend the senior women's team matches and meet the female players.
