Newcastle University Performance Sport Manager Fraser Kennedy welcomes co-operation between Whitley Bay and the University, saying: "I am delighted that Newcastle University and the University's Women's Football Club have developed such an important link with an established community club such as Whitley Bay WFC. This will hopefully aid Newcastle in terms of recruitment and profile as well as give the players an avenue to play at weekends for Whitley Bay." The match ended with a 6-1 win for the Whitley side, with both teams using the game as an opportunity to give their full squad a run out and Colin Phillips was pleased to formally launch the link between the sides. "I am sure there will be many opportunities for us to co-operate in terms of playing and training and this friendly tonight was a great start," he said.
