England have edged up into eighth place in the latest FIFA Women's World Rankings in the latest list to be published. The success in reaching the Final of the UEFA Women's Championships has seen them progress but, surprisingly, Norway rose three places to seventh despite only reaching the semi finals. Scotland hold steady in 25th place and Wales remain at 50th despite their victory over the Czech Republic earlier this week. The United States hold on to pole position, ahead of Germany who replace Brazil in second place following their Euro 2009 triumph earlier this month. When only the European countries are taken into consideration, England lie in 4th, Scotland at 15th and Wales are in 29th. The next rankings list will be published in December.
