Celtic opened up a lead of three points at the top of the Scottish Women's Premier League after winning their top of the table clash 3-1 against Hibernian. Hibernian looked to be on their way to victory through a goal from Joelle Murray but substitute Julie Ferguson levelled matters for Celtic before Jo Love struck twice late on to seal the points for the Hoops. Spartans are in third place following their 3-2 victory over Dundee Utd SC but they were made to work very hard for the points. Emma McCulley gave United a sixth minute lead which was doubled five minutes before the break by Cheryl McCulloch. Julie Smith pulled a goal back for Spartans just before half time and, in the second half, Dani Stewart equalised from a Patricia McLaughlin corner. Hayley Lauder then clinched the win for Spartans by scoring the winning goal from close range. On a day of comebacks in the league, Aberdeen staged a recovery of their own from three goals to snatch a 3-3 draw against Hamilton Academicals. The other three matches in the SWPL were postponed because of the weather.
