The Great Britain Deaf squad will be chasing gold this week when the Deaflympics begin in Taipei. The football tournament at the Games will commence on Saturday and Great Britain have been drawn in Group B along with Thailand, Russia and Japan. Their first match will be against Japan on Saturday before playing Thailand two days later and Russia on 9th September. All matches will be played in Yingfeng. Head Coach George McGowan and the team have spent a week acclimatising in Taipei ahead of their challenge and have reached the Deaflympics following three years tirelessly raising money and training for the event. Great Britain squad: Carly Waters, Susanna Kenward, Laura Wiseman, Lydia Docker, Esther Maycock (capt), Damaris Cooke, Sarah Page, Lisa Napean, Donna Cross, Camilla Willis, Victoria Wenman, Natasha Ryan, Susan McKeown, Louise Hogan, Danielle Evans, Claire Stancliffe, Cath Eyley, Annie Straw, Clare Davies, Roanna Simmons, Catherine Hamill, Chloe Lockey.
