Watford have finalised the signing of last season's Southern Division top goalscorer Sam Pittuck from West Ham United. Sam had been training with Watford prior to her departure to New Zealand to coach. On her return last week, she put pen to paper and watched her new team mates beat Sunderland in the Hornets' first home match. Sam is expected to partner Kate Longhurst up front in the long term and they should make quite a formidable duo once they get to know each other's game. Manager Sian Williams commented: "Obviously it may take Sam a few games to find her feet in the top division but, when Helen Lander was put in the same position two years ago, she quickly proved her doubters wrong. Sam has shown some excellent potential in pre-season, she is a selfless player who will work hard for the team and links up well with midfield. She also likes to shoot, which may sound odd, but in women's football sometimes forwards can be too keen to pass rather than take responsibility themselves. Anyone who scores as many goals as Sam did last season deserves the chance to test themselves at the highest level and I have every confidence that she will make an impact this season."
