![]() Hackney enjoyed the better of the early stages with Franceca Cagetti directing a header straight at Chanell Yardley and a good move seeing Kirstina Abbott's crossfield pass releasing Anna Deignan, whose low cross narrowly eluded the oncoming Mems Hassan. Hassan was then to go very close with a curling 20-yard shot which hit the bar, but Tooting began to come into the game and Tamara Graham produced their closest effort so far, a free kick which sailed narrowly over. Both teams were producing some good passing football but both were also defending very well and restricting chances. Tooting put together a good move shortly before half time following some good work on the right from Molly Higgins, Pamela Seddon exchanging passes with Kadeshia Rose but was denied as Jackie Pidcock came out to make a fine smothering save. Tooting came out strongly at the start of the second half and Pidcock did well again as she touched a 25-yard strike from Joanna Goodwin onto the bar. Helen Nkowocha also went close with a shot on the turn but the angle was too acute. A quickly taken free kick by Goodwin then put in Graham who touched the ball past Pidcock but hurriedly shot over the bar. The game continued to flow from end to end as the teams sought a breakthrough goal but Cagetti was in fine form at the back for Hackney as was her Tooting counterpart, Alysha Frampton. Both goalkeepers were also playing well with Chanell Yardley looking impressive for Tooting. Hackney began to pick the pace up again with Maria Nelson firing just wide from Ceri Atkinson's cut back and a flick from Carly Williams releasing Deignan who managed to work an opening but failed to find the target. The game went into extra time and in the first period, despite the efforts of both teams being roared on by a noisy crowd, neither side could manage to break the deadlock as the two defences once again stood firm. However within 90 seconds of the restart, Hackney were to strike a decisive blow. Hassan broke down the left and slid a low centre into the area where Deignan was on hand to drill the ball home from six yards. Tooting threw players forward in a valiant attempt to try and salvage the game but, with Cagetti in inspired form, could not force their way through. Indeed Hackney could have added to their lead as a shrewd pass from Debora Cagnin let in Atkinson but she was denied by a fine save from Yardley. One goal was therefore enough to settle an entertaining game played in a great spirit between the two teams.
