Glasgow win crucial clash
 Women's Football News 25 May 2009

Glasgow win crucial clash - 25 May 2009 - Women's Football NewsGlasgow City are effectively one point away from retaining the Scottish Women's Premier League title after winning the top of the table clash 4-2 against Spartans.

Spartans had gone into the game with an unbeaten record and a point clear at the top but it was Glasgow who took the spoils with goals from Leanne Ross, Suzanne Lappin, Jane Ross and Ruesha Littlejohn. Hayley Lauder and Molly McKean replied for Spartans who are now in second but City will clinch the league on Thursday night if they win away to Hibernian, while a vastly superior goal difference means that a draw is likely to be sufficient.

Glasgow were boosted even further with the news that Celtic went down to a surprise 2-1 defeat away to FC Kilmarnock and their challenge looks to be over.

Hibernian warmed up for the match on Thursday with a 2-1 win away to Raith Rovers, who are now doomed to finish at the bottom of the table.

Forfar Farmington have a chance of a top half finish after they 3-1 success over Dundee Utd SC took them into fifth place, just ahead of Aberdeen who were 2-1 winners against Hamilton Academicals.
