The development of girls football was recognised and rewarded at Sawtry Colts Football Club presentation evening on 23rd May when the clubs 'Girls Football Development Officer' was awarded the 'Club Clubman' award. The club has moved girls football from strength to strength in recent years with the club growing to run squads at Under-8 to Under-14 for the 2009-10 season. In addition the club will run an Under-6 development squad which provide girls the opportunity to participate in football training from when they join school, right through until they are ready to play in an open age group. Sawtry Colts FC are working to a continually improving girls football development plan with a vision to become the largest provider of girls football in the county. The club adopts a football for all, continual development approach and encourage girls of all ability to join. Sawtry Colts recognise that football development is a long term project and that not all girls are natural footballers and believe that the key to their future success is to help girls develop, improve and perfect their skills and technique.
