Portsmouth staged a charity football match in memory of the late Michelle Weeks on Friday 15th May. Michelle started her football career at Portsmouth Ladies; she also played for Southampton Saints and spent three years at the Charlton Ladies Football Academy. She returned to Portsmouth and continued playing for a couple of years before going on to manage the Reserve Team. Michelle sadly passed away on December 4th 2007, aged 26. The match was between Portsmouth FC Ladies and Weeksey's Wanderers, which was made up of players that had played with or for Michelle. It was played in great spirit and over the evening £1,050 was raised for Naomi House Children's Hospice. Portsmouth FC Ladies would like to thank everyone who was involved in organizing the event and to the players and spectators who turned out in their hundreds to remember such a great person and to support a very worthwhile cause. A big thank you also has to go to Fareham Town FC for providing the pitch and after match facilities free of charge and to all three officials for providing their services without charge.
