Northern Combination Leeds City Vixens have won the Northern Combination title and are promoted to the Premier League for the first time in their history following their 2-0 victory over West Auckland Town. The Yorkshire side have finished as runners-up in each of the last three seasons, and four times overall, but this time they have finally gone one better after goals from Paula Johnson and Michelle Walsh. Rochdale will have to settle for runners-up after they drew 3-3 with Scunthorpe Utd. Sarah Buffel netted twice and Steph Bell the other for Rochdale who will finish one place higher than last season, while Scunthorpe found the net through Deb Hearn, Rachel Harrison and Mandy Cook. Middlesbrough meanwhile ran out 4-0 winners over Bradford City to boost their chances of a top three place. Nicky Duckling was on target twice for 'Boro, along with Abby Lyle and Donna Swift. At the other end of the table, Blackpool Wren Rovers are a step closer to safety as they won 5-1 against Peterlee Town, who are ten points adrift at the bottom. Debbie Standring led the scoring for Blackpool with a hat-trick while Carly Loughran weighed in with a double. Midland Combination Derby County are closing in on a potential League and Cup 'double' after they defeated TNS & Shrewsbury Town 3-2 in the semi finals of the League Cup. Although Lauren Steadman gave Derby an early lead, they needed to come from behind to secure the victory as two late goals from Emily Jeffery sent the holders through to the Final for the third successive season, where they will meet Copsewood (Coventry). Only Coventry City can now prevent Derby from winning the league title after Wolverhampton Wanderers' remaining hopes were ended by a 3-0 defeat at home to West Bromwich Albion. Hayley Phillipowsky bagged a brace and Kayleigh Steel the other goal for Albion, who have moved into third place. Leafield Athletic are away from danger after two goals from Leigh Dugmore earned them a 2-0 victory away to Copsewood (Coventry). The two teams at the bottom of the table met each other and Crewe Alexandra are off the basement at the expense of Loughborough Students by beating them 3-1, with goals from Kat Spencer (2) and Michelle Saunders. South East Combination Gillingham edged through to the semi finals of the League Cup, beating Wellingborough Diamonds 4-3 on penalties after the sides had shared a 1-1 draw. In the league, Welwyn Garden City cut the gap on leaders Enfield Town to four points as they defeated Lewes 2-1. South West Combination Plymouth Argyle kept their title challenge on course and replaced Yeovil Town in second place by beating them 2-0. Laura Perrett and Chloe Roberts scored the goals to leave Plymouth seven points behind leaders Queen's Park Rangers, with three games in hand, and the two title challengers are set to meet in a decider this coming Sunday. Team Bath returned to winning ways with a 3-1 success away to Forest Green Rovers. All of their goals came in the first half, Toni Hemmings giving them the lead before adding further strikes through Kirsty Richardson and Nicola Brown. After the break, Forest Green inflicted heavy pressure and went close as Charlotte King hit the bar but, apart from a solitary Charlotte Cooney strike, Team Bath stood firm to take the points. Oxford City are also just two points off fourth place following their 4-3 win against Weston St Johns, who replied through a Laura Bray double and Charlotte Spice.
