The home side had the better of the first half and went ahead ten minutes before the interval through an opportunist strike from leading scorer Gwennan Harries. After the break, a huge goalmouth scramble almost resulted in an equaliser and Rachel Simkin made a superb save from Chelsea Weston but the Belles were not to be denied. In the 72nd minute, Weston drilled home a 20-yard free kick to level the scores. The Belles piled on the pressure late on with a number of attempts on goal but Academy stood firm and almost snatched a winner themselves as Harries broke away but lobbed her shot narrowly over. Birmingham City's fine season continues and they consolidated themselves in fifth place with a 3-1 victory over WFC Fulham. Liverpool remain just above the relegation zone after they went down 1-0 at home to Watford, who gained revenge for their 3-0 defeat by the Reds seven days earlier. Charlotte Young settled matters with the only goal of the game, just before the hour mark.
