Barnet re-kindled their promotion challenge in the Southern Division with a 4-2 victory away to Brighton & Hove Albion. Zoe Lance gave the Bees an eighth minute lead and they added further goals just before half time through Holly Sandow and Claire Thomas. Brighton staged a comeback after the break and renewed hopes as Kim Whitcombe and Carly Esposito pulled goals back but Sandow made the game safe in injury time. The result lifts Barnet into third place but Brighton remain in the bottom two places. Colchester Utd's march up the table is showing no signs of slowing and their 3-2 win against Truro City takes them into fourth. Sarah Mansfield did give the Cornish side a first half lead before Hannah Porter levelled from the penalty spot and Helen Bass sent the U's ahead on the half hour. Bass completed her double after the break and, although Danni Barr reduced the arrears with a penalty, it proved to be just enough to take Colchester's unbeaten run to seven matches. Ipswich Town meanwhile picked up a precious 2-1 win away to Portsmouth which takes them seven points clear of the relegation places. A first half double from Danielle Bitten saw the Tractor Girls take the points, Leeta Rutherford pulled a goal back from the penalty spot late on but Pompey's recent nightmare run continues.
