Despite taking a first half lead, Wales went down to a 2-1 defeat to Austria in their opening group match in the Algarve Cup.
Wales started the match brightly and took the lead ten minutes before half time when Jessica Fishlock scored her sixth international goal.
However after the break, Wales were unable to take a number of chances to extend their lead and were made to pay as Austria hit back to claim victory with goals from Kathrin Entner and Katrin Walzi, both of which were scored from corners.
Wales' next Algarve Cup match will be on Friday when they take on hosts Portugal at the Estado Municipal Albufeira.
Wales: Nicola Davies, Lauren Townsend, Carla Parfitt, Michelle Green (sub Loren Dykes 44mins), Nicola Cousins, Katie Daley, Eleri Earnshaw (sub Emma Plewa 75mins), Jayne Ludlow, Helen Lander, Jessica Fishlock, Gwennan Harries. Subs not used: Cheryl Foster, Rhian Nokes, Fran Howells, Sally Wade, Katie Williams.
