Cardiff City were unable to take an opportunity to move back into second place in the Southern Division as they went down to a 3-2 defeat away to West Ham Utd. Lindsey Morgan put the Hammers ahead just before the break with an own goal levelling the scores on the stroke of half time. Jess Barling fired home a 25-yard free kick to restored the lead early in the second half and Sam Pittuck scored a third to give West Ham the points, despite Zoe Atkins pulling a late goal back for Cardiff. Portsmouth and Truro City battled out a draw for the second successive week, also denying Pompey a chance to move into the top two. Lisa Langrish put Pompey ahead just before the hour and they also struck the bar twice before Sarah Mansfield scored a crucial late equaliser for the Cornish side, who remain just outside the bottom two. Crystal Palace fought back to earn themselves a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Colchester Utd, who took their unbeaten run to four matches. Colchester went into a first half lead through Laura Guyon, with Becky Merritt levelling for Palace ten minutes into the second half. Ipswich Town recorded a vital 2-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion to extend the gap between themselves and the bottom two places, thanks to goals from Amanda Everett and Danielle Bitten.
