![]() Helen joined Arsenal from Watford at the beginning of January having had a fantastic final month in front of goal for her former club. Despite the majority of league fixtures being postponed due to the cold weather, the Welsh international bagged an astonishing four goals in the Hornets' single league fixture. Two goals from Lander in the final nine minutes of the first half and her second brace, in the space of three minutes on the hour mark, ensured a comprehensive 4-1 victory away at Blackburn Rovers. The game proved to be a fitting finale for the Hornets' captain and saw Lander bring to a close an incredible 14-year spell at her home town club. Peter Hough, Chairman of the FA Tesco Women's Premier League, said: "Helen Lander is an outstanding striker who has proved her ability to score goals in the top flight. Her final four-goal performance summed up an incredible 14-year spell with the Hornets, which saw her collect the Premier League Top Goalscorers award for the Southern Division in 2006 and 2007. She has now moved to Arsenal and I'm sure their fans will be relishing the prospect of her teaming up with Kelly Smith, November's Player of the Month winner, in what could prove to be another trophy filled year for the North London club." The FA Tesco Women's Player of the Month award is decided by nominations from clubs in the FA Tesco Women's Premier League and England coaching staff.
