![]() Leckwith Stadium has been the home ground of Cardiff City Ladies FC for over fifteen years. Last season the club had to re-locate as the stadium was rebuilt across the road as part of the Cardiff City FC new stadium project. Now settled back in to a brand new purposeful facility which provides a fully certificated international athletics track and field facilities, 50-station fitness suite - including a cardio theatre, hospitality suite, an activity zone and spin cycle room - two training rooms, a 100m x 70m inner field, and two rugby and football pitches. The Stadium was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Councillor Kate Lloyd and Cardiff's favorite son Colin Jackson. The one-time Olympic silver medallist and world record holder thanked the Welsh capital for supporting him throughout his career and said he hoped athletes competing in the 2012 Olympics would benefit from the new stadium's facilities. "It's brilliant to come back home to your city and see a fantastic facility like this," he said. "It's not just track and field - every sport relies on running and jumping of some sort. "Cardiff has been one of my biggest sponsors. We want the best athletes to come here and prepare for 2012."
