Arsenal further extended their lead at the top of the National Division to nine points, thanks to a 4-1 victory over third placed Chelsea. Goals from Kelly Smith and Karen Carney ensured the Gunners went into the half time break with a two-goal lead, which was extended after the break through an own goal from Siobhan Chamberlain. Dunia Susi gave Chelsea renewed hope by pulling a goal back on the hour, but Alex Scott made sure that Arsenal notched up their 13th successive win with a late strike. Leeds Carnegie moved out of the bottom four places with a 4-1 win against Nottingham Forest, who remain trapped in the relegation zone. Sue Smith opened the scoring for Leeds from the penalty spot and Jade Moore added a second before half time. Steph Houghton and Smith, with her second, put Leeds firmly in control before Catherine Lawson netted a late consolation for Forest with a penalty.
