For the second week running, Manchester City were involved in an exciting F.A.Women's Cup tie and this time it was in extra time that they advanced to the Fifth Round with a 4-3 win over Preston North End. City took an early lead as Sarah Penney slotted home from the penalty spot but Preston hit back strongly, taking the lead through goals from Louise Cafferkey and Sam Cadwallader. Krystle Johnson equalised for City before Gemma Watson restored Preston's lead ahead of the interval. Johnson once again levelled three minutes after the restart and neither side could find the net again before the 90 minutes were up, sending the match into extra time. Once again, City struck early after the kick off as extra time began, just two minutes into the first period as Johnson completed her hat-trick. City then kept their nerve and held on for a hard earned victory which means they will be at home to either Everton or WFC Fulham in the last sixteen. Leeds Carnegie ended the Cup hopes of Forest Green Rovers with a 7-0 victory to go through to the Fifth Round once more. The South West Combination title hopefuls battled well throughout the game but two early goals from Steph Houghton and a Sue Smith strike before the interval put Leeds in control. After the break, Smith completed her double before Leeds went on to wrap up the win with further goals from Jade Moore, Mel Sutcliffe and Lucy Ward.
