Two sisters are running the 2009 London Marathon in memory of their father, who suffered a fatal heart attack while training for the event.
Olivia Nicholson, from Walkwood, Redditch, and her sister Emma Wilson, from Studley, Warwickshire will run their first ever marathon along the famous route in April to raise money for H.E.A.R.T. UK, a charity raising awareness of the dangers of high cholesterol, the invisible condition which killed their father Tom Jones.
Tom, aged 64, from Matchborough, Redditch and a former player for Cookhill and Studley cricket clubs and Evesham Hockey Club, was unaware he had genetically inherited dangerously high cholesterol levels and suffered a heart attack on June 15 while out running.
The sisters need to raise at least £1,500 each to run the event and have been given a helping hand by Redditch United (2007), the women's football team whom the sisters were founder members of and for whom Liv plays in midfield.
Sporty Liv, who also played football for Studley WFC, hockey for Redditch Women and Great Alne Ladies and was a schoolgirl cross country champion for Redditch district, persuaded her team mates to bare all for a saucy calendar which will be sold to raise money for the cholesterol charity.
Copies of the calendar, costing £5, are available to buy from "The Calendar Club" shop and "Gamestation" in the Kingfisher Centre, Redditch or if anyone wants to sponsor the sisters' marathon effort they can visit their charity webpage at www.justgiving.com/olivianicholson or can ring Liv on (07916) 274811 for calendars.
Copies of the calendar will also be on sale following Redditch's Birmingham County Cup tie against Birmingham City this Sunday at the Valley Stadium, kick off 2pm.
