Birmingham City lifted themselves up to fifth place in the National Division as they won 3-2 away to Liverpool in the only match to survive the weather. In a see-saw encounter, it was Cheryl Foster who gave the Reds a tenth minutes lead before Birmingham, who fielded recent signing England international Jo Potter, netted twice ahead of the interval through Dannii Bird and Becky Hall. Liverpool levelled the scores once again just two minutes into the second half thanks to Shelly James but the Blues were back in front once more with a goal from Heather Scheuber. Foster then missed a penalty as Birmingham held on to claim the three points and exact revenge for their defeat by the Reds earlier in the season.
