York City are the only Regional League club who are through to the Third Round after they defeated Liverpool Feds 2-1 after extra time.
It was Liverpool who took the lead after twelve minutes through an opportunist finish from Genna Perischine but York were back on level terms midway through the first half when Jasmin Fillingham scored with a dipping 25-yard strike. Liverpool pressed forward after the break but York defended well, marshalled by Abbi Webster, and the game went into the extra period. As the game entered the 100th minute, York struck a decisive blow as Ruth Brazier netted with a shot which went through a crowd of players to send her club into the Third Round for the first time in their history, where they must take a trip to Premier League side Rotherham Utd.
The game of the day arguably took place at Leeds City Vixens where the home side emerged as 6-4 winners over Bradford City. Stacey Daniel led the scoring with a hat-trick, with Sarah Dobby, Michelle Walsh and Rachel Townson adding further goals for Leeds who must take on Sunderland in one of the most intriguing ties in the Third Round.
Middlesbrough overcame a tricky tie at home to Darlington RA with a hard fought 3-2 victory. In-form striker Nicky Duckling bagged a hat-trick for 'Boro who face Premier League opponents in the next round, away to Tranmere Rovers.
Derby County ended the Cup run of Guiseley with a 2-0 success at Nethermoor Park. New signing Sam Griffiths marked her first start for the club by scoring both goals for the Rams, who now await the winners of the postponed tie between Wellingborough Diamonds and Leicester City Ladies.
One of the ties went all the way to penalties, where Coventry City triumphed over TNS & Shrewsbury Town after the teams had battled out a 2-2 draw. Jade Ogle and Nicole Tinto had been on target for the Sky Blues during the game and from the spot they ran out 4-1 winners thanks to Natasha Lynch, Ogle, Cherelle Archibald and Emily Hanson. Coventry now travel to Leicester City Women in a rematch between the two main title challengers in the Midland Combination last season.
Northampton Town earned themselves a plum tie at home to Barnet following their 4-1 success away to Tottenham Hotspur. Lisa Porter, Imogen Cox, Nicki Robson and Laura Sullivan all netted a goal apiece for the Cobblers.
Chesham Utd benefitted from a scorching start to win a tough tie 2-1 at Havant & Waterlooville. Alex Rogers and Anneka Nuttall each scored for the Clarets inside the opening three minutes and Chesham had to hang on after Jodie Prince replied for the Southern Region League leaders midway through the second half. Chesham will be away in the Third Round to either Lewes or Bedford Town Bells.
Cheltenham Town's fine Cup run has come to an end after they were beaten 2-0 by Forest Green Rovers at the New Lawn. Helen Wood and Angie McQuillan were both on the scoresheet for the South West Combination high fliers.
Forest Green must now travel to Plymouth Argyle who recorded one of the results of the day, a 6-0 win away to Team Bath. Chloe Roberts, fresh from an England under-23 training camp, netted two of the goals as did Emily Mousley, with Kate Middleton and Becky Atkins adding a goal apiece.
