Arsenal claimed their tenth successive victory and opened up a lead of three points by beating Liverpool 2-0. With Welsh international goalkeeper Nicola Davies in excellent form, the Reds held out until five minutes after half time when Kelly Smith put the Gunners in front. Rachel Yankey completed the win with the second goal, fifteen minutes from time. Bristol Academy were unable to sustain a flying start away to Blackburn Rovers and had to settle for a 2-2 draw, their sixth of the season. Shelly Cox gave Academy a ninth minute lead with Emma Plewa adding a second three minutes later with her first Premier League goal. Katie Anderton quickly pulled a goal back for Blackburn and the striker salvaged a point for the home side with her second, midway through the second half.
