Guiseley v Peterlee Town
 Women's Football News 9 Nov 2008

Guiseley v Peterlee Town - 9 Nov 2008 - Women's Football NewsF.A.Women's Cup - Road to the Final
Guiseley kept up their Cup run and reached the First Round with a hard fought 4-2 victory against Ossett Albion.

Faye Shipman was on target twice, with Vicky Winters and Rachel Dainty adding the other goals for the Yorkshire side who were rewarded with a home draw against Combination opposition in the form of Peterlee Town.

Peterlee Town was formed as Chester-le-Street Ladies and initially played in the Northern League before becoming founder members of the Northern Combination in 1998. Four years later, the club was relegated back to the Northern League but were promoted back as Champions two years later and, in 2004-05, missed out on Premier League football by the closest of margins as they were pipped to the Northern Combination title on goal difference by Newcastle. In 2006-07 they linked up with Peterlee Town FC and have remained at Combination level ever since.

Manager Bill Godward has been synonymous with the club since its formation and has been involved in women's football for 37 years. He is assisted by Pauline Godward and Graham Gibson.

This match, being played at Guiseley's Nethermoor Park home, does have potential for a Cup upset but Peterlee are renowned Cup fighters and are likely to go into the match as favourites.

Cheltenham Town are already through to the Second Round having received a bye in the First Round draw - the first time this has ever happened to one of our Road to the Final teams.
