Sawtry Colts FC launched their Girls Football Development Centre on Sunday and Andrew Burgess from the centre's sponsor, Produce World of Yaxley, attended to help out at the hour-long session and also handed out training tops to all the girls that attended.
The centre will consist of two squads which will train on a weekly basis commencing in November 2008 and will follow a structured 24-week training plan with regular assessments to report progress.
Produce World is a family-owned business growing and packing fruit and vegetables for all the major UK supermarkets. They are committed to making a positive, measurable contribution to the communities in which they operate and are establishing a charity, The Growing Trust, to support local charities and community groups.
Andrew Burgess, from Produce World, commented: "Despite growing demand, opportunities for younger girls to get involved with football in the local area are limited. We think that the Sawtry Colts initiative is an excellent response and are delighted to be sponsoring the Girls Football Development Centre."
There are still limited places left at the centre so if you know somebody who would be interested in attending the Sawtry Colts Girls Football Development Centre, you can contact Steve Purnell on (07964) 496259 or e-mail email@example.com.
