Charlton Centre of Excellence and the London FA have worked together to deliver an In-service event which was held on 9th October, at Sparrows Lane, Eltham.
The idea behind this was to allow coaches within the female game to come and see inside a Girls' Centre of Excellence. The coaches were given an insight into the 'Charlton Way', and a presentation was given on how and what is expected from the players involved within the set up, and what their aims and objectives are for the girls.
The floor was then opened up for Q & A's for the Centre Director, ex-Charlton Player Paul Mortimer. Following this presentation the coaches were invited to watch the Under-16 squad train, and further quiz Paul on the session taking place. The evening was a fantastic opportunity for coaches within the female game to learn what a Centre of Excellence is all about and to see what level of player is involved within this set up.
Emma Barnes, Women's & Girls Football Development Officer for South London, said: "Events like this are great for linking grassroots clubs and Centres of Excellence, and also allowing coaches within the game an opportunity to see different sessions delivered. It is something we will be looking to roll out again in the future."
