Despite the perfect start, Glasgow City's first ever match in the Second Qualifying Round of the UEFA Women's Cup ended in a 6-1 defeat at the hands of group hosts Roa IL. City were in front after just five minutes Katharina Lindner and Ruesha Littlejohn combined to set up Rachel Corsie who fired home from 20 yards but their joy was short lived. Sarah Huffman quickly levelled the scores and Kristine Edner Waehler put Roa ahead before Huffman and Lene Mykjaland extended the Norwegians' lead to 4-1 by half time. Glasgow tried to rally in the second half but Roa proved to be too strong and they rounded off the win with further goals from Mykjaland and Trine Nordgard. The other match in the group produced a huge shock as Cup holders FFC Frankfurt crashed to a 1-0 defeat against Russian Champions Zvezda 2005. The win was more remarkable as Zvezda were forced to field 41-year-old assistant coach Hanna Kostraba because of an injury crisis and the veteran responded by scoring the winning goal midway through the second half, to end Frankfurt's 18-match unbeaten run in the qualifying groups.
