England have made it through to the Second Qualifying Round of the UEFA Under-19 Championships courtesy of a 5-2 victory over Scotland in Velenje. However the result also means that Scotland have been eliminated after having gone into the match needing nothing less than a victory to progress to the next stage. Three goals in as many first half minutes from Jordan Nobbs, Jess Holbrook and Michelle Hinnigan set England on their way and further second half goals from Rebecca Jane and Steph Marsh ensured that England topped the group ahead of Slovakia, who also qualify. Wales meanwhile completed their group matches with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of group hosts Sweden, but they had already booked their place in the next phase by winning their opening two matches.
