![]() Cheltenham Town emerged as winners from their Preliminary Round tie against Newbury Ladies & Girls, after the tie had been postponed on the original date because of the weather. Rhona Donaldson and Natalie Berry each netted twice, with Grace Parker adding the other, as Cheltenham ran out 5-0 winners and they have earned themselves a trip to Bristol in the First Round Qualifying, where they will take on Stoke Lane Athletic. Although the two clubs are in the Premier Division of the South West League, this will be the first time they have met at senior level as Stoke Lane were promoted into the top flight at the end of last season. Since moving into senior women's football, they have quickly moved up the pyramid with promotion in each of the last two seasons. Manager Paul Passaway is looking forward to the challenge of playing Cheltenham, saying: "It is going to be a bit of a measuring stick for us as we are now in the same league. We have had a up and down start to the season and this game will give us an idea of what we need to do to do well in the league." The side is captained by Leanne Ware and their main threat is likely to come from strike duo Faye Slade and Michelle Purse, a prolific goalscorer signed from Cam Bulldogs during the summer. Jade Gamlin is a highly promising young defender as is midfielder Jade Daly. The match takes place at Little Stoke and Cheltenham will go into the match as favourites, although this could turn out to be a game with plenty of goals.
