Glasgow City began their defence of the Scottish Women's Premier League title with a 4-1 opening day victory away to league newcomers Dundee Utd.
However City needed to come from a goal behind as United took the lead via a first half free kick from Tammy Harkin. United kept the advantage going into the break but in the second half, Leanne Ross levelled the scores and Megan Sneddon sent the Champions ahead for the first time on the hour. Jane Ross added a third and Katharina Lindner completed the scoring with a header.
It was not a good beginning for Hibernian though as they went down to a 2-1 defeat away to Hamilton Academicals. Gillian Inglis and Sarah Crilly bagged the goals to give the Accies a surprise success against last season's runners-up.
Celtic's ambitions of challenging the top two were boosted with a great start, coming away from Aberdeen with a 3-0 victory.
The other two games in the top division ended with honours even and no goals scored. Boroughmuir Thistle and Forfar Farmington battled out a 0-0 draw whilst the match between FC Kilmarnock and Spartans (formerly Edinburgh Ladies) also finished goalless.
There will be no matches in the league this week, due to the First Round of the Premier League Cup.
