Everton recorded two convincing wins in successive days to continue their excellent end of season form.
On Saturday, they ran out 4-1 winners away to Watford, Natasha Dowie doing her England prospects no harm at all by scoring a hat-trick against her former club. Ashlee Hincks had earlier been on target for Watford but Toni Duggan rounded off the scoring for Everton in the dying minutes. The result ensured that Bristol Academy would finish in fourth place for the second season in a row.
24 hours later, the Toffees scored six without reply against Cardiff City to stretch their unbeaten run in the league to 14 matches. Dowie opened the scoring with Michelle Hinnigan, Rachel Unitt and Jill Scott adding further goals before half time. Duggan netted for the second game in succession and Michelle Evans wrapped up the victory with the sixth goal.
Birmingham City meanwhile ran up their biggest victory of the season, 6-1 against Charlton Athletic. Amy McCann gave the Blues the lead with Maz Gauntlett and Becky Hall also on target before McCann added her second and Heather Scheuber also found the net before half time. Danielle Farmer pulled a goal back for Charlton but Katy Ward rounded off the scoring for Birmingham with a long range effort.
