Seahaven Harriers came from a goal behind to beat Crawley Down 2-1 in the Final of the Sussex Challenge Trophy at Lancing.
After five minutes, Seahaven were reduced to ten players after a defender was shown the red card for bringing down a Crawley player when through on goal. Seahaven packed their defence as Crawley sought to take advantage of their extra player and they took the lead shortly before half time when Lydia White drilled home a free kick.
In the second half, an indirect free kick for a back pass gave Seahaven a chance to get back on level terms, which they duly accepted as Emma Hatt fired home for the equaliser. Five minutes later and the game had been turned on its head as Becky Hayward found space in the Crawley area to put her side ahead for the first time.
Crawley tried as hard as they could to get back into the game but Seahaven defended strongly and with great determination and the Cup success adds to a good season for the South Coast side, who have also finished as runners-up in the Sussex County League.
