Arsenal stretch their lead
 Women's Football News 24 Mar 2008
Arsenal went ten points clear at the top of the National Division after running out 6-0 winners over Cardiff City.
Karen Carney netted twice in a four-minute period to give the Gunners a two-goal lead inside the opening twenty minutes before Kelly Smith added the third and Lianne Sanderson bagged a double ahead of the interval. Jayne Ludlow completed the scoring six minutes after the restart to send Arsenal another step closer towards retaining the title.
Leeds Utd jumped into fourth place and kept their hopes of a top three finish alive by coming from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1. The Blues took the lead midway through the first half with a goal from Ellen White but Sue Smith equalised shortly before half time and Jess Clarke scored the decisive goal for Leeds in the opening minute of the second half.
