There were no surprises in the remaining F.A.Women's Cup quarter final ties and Arsenal swept into the last four with a 5-1 victory over Birmingham City.
The Blues did take a first half lead through a sweetly struck volley from Becky Hall but Julie Fleeting and Lianne Sanderson ensured that the Gunners were in front at half time. Alex Scott fired home the third from 20 yards and Sanderson completed her double, before former Blues winger Karen Carney rounded off the scoring for Arsenal who now take on Northern Division side Lincoln City in the semi finals.
Everton also made it safely through with a 3-1 win away to a valiant Newcastle Utd. Rachel Unitt and Fara Williams put the Toffees two ahead inside the opening fifteen minutes and England full back Unitt netted her second midway through the second half. Rachel Furness pulled a goal back for Newcastle but they could not prevent Everton's passage into the last four.
Leeds Utd will be their opponents in the semi finals after a 5-1 victory at Cardiff City took them to within one step of reaching the Final for the second time in three years. Steph Houghton gave Leeds an early advantage which was cancelled out by Terri Beddows, but goals in quick succession from Sophie Bradley and Houghton put Leeds two ahead by the break. Houghton completed her hat-trick midway through the second half and Jade Moore added the final goal in the dying minutes.
