Lincoln City are through to the semi finals of the F.A.Women's Cup for the first time in their history after beating Blackburn Rovers 3-2.
After Jodie Snelson had missed an early chance for the Lady Imps, Blackburn opening the scoring in the 27th minute through a clinical finish from Katie Anderton.
Blackburn took their lead into the break but Lincoln were back on level terms early after the restart as a free kick was headed on by Nicola Stray and Megan Harris nodded the ball home.
The Northern Division side then looked to be on their way to victory when Kerry Smith headed in Sophie Barker's cross but Blackburn fought back to take the game into extra time as Anderton burst through the Lincoln defence to equalise.
During the extra period, it was Lincoln who were to get themselves back in front following a goalmouth scramble, Smith was on hand to bury the ball in the net for her second goal. Blackburn then threw all they could at Lincoln but the home defence stayed firm and held out for an historic victory.
It was perhaps fitting that Kerry Smith turned out to be the hero for Lincoln, just over a year after being involved in a serious car accident which put her out of action for several months.
