Barnet were unable to close in on Southern Division leaders WFC Fulham as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Keynsham Town.
Charlotte Plumb gave Keynsham an early lead with Stacey Sowden equalising against her former club within ten minutes. Both sides could have added to their goal tally, Keynsham twice hitting the post in the second half and two Barnet efforts being cleared off the line at the other end.
Colchester Utd finally gained their first home victory of the season, breaking their run of seven successive defeats, when beating Newquay 3-0. After a goalless first half, Kate Longhurst struck twice in a three-minute spell just after the hour mark and Karissa Rodney wrapped up the points with the third goal.
Brighton & Hove Albion meanwhile picked up three important points in a 4-0 victory against Reading Royals. Laura Elliott gave the Seagulls a fifth minute lead which was doubled on the half hour by Shannon Moloney. Katie Hodges added the third early in the second half and Tammy Waine completed the scoring.
AFC Team Bath remain in the bottom two but also claimed a vital win. The Somerset side defeated Crystal Palace 1-0, Toni Hemmings netting the only goal of the game in the first half.
