Arsenal v West Ham United - 27 Jan 2008 - Women's Football NewsF.A.Women's Cup - Road to the Final
West Ham United have been enjoying their Cup run to date, following up their five-goal victory in the Third Round by scoring seven without reply against Colchester Utd. That stunning victory included a four-goal haul from Tracey Duxbury and a hat-trick by young striker Katy Ling.
Now the Hammers have been handed the ultimate test for any women's football team, for they have been paired with the reigning domestic and European Champions, as well as the Cup holders, Arsenal, who swept into the Fifth Round by scoring eleven goals against Newquay.
There is very little introduction needed for Arsenal's squad, managed by Vic Akers, other than it is packed with international players from the home countries as well as a number of upcoming youngsters. They possess a formidable unbeaten record in all domestic competitions which stretches back to March 2005 and have not lost a league match since October 2003, spelling out the size of the task which awaits the talented young Hammers squad.
Arsenal will start the match, at their Boreham Wood home, as red hot favourites but the match will give West Ham a chance to gauge their progress this season.
