Birmingham City came through a tricky tie to win 4-1 at Sunderland and claim the last place in the Fifth Round of the F.A.Women's Cup, and a trip to WFC Fulham.
Jemma Butler gave the Blues an early lead and, after both sides went close at either end, Birmingham looked to have taken a decisive lead as Becky Hall scored their second. Sunderland gave themselves hope with seven minutes remaining as Lucy Bronze pulled a goal back.
However a minute later, Birmingham's two-goal advantage was restored as Chelsea Weston scored with a powerfully struck free kick. In her attempts to keep the ball out, Sunderland goalkeeper Helen Alderson suffered two dislocated fingers and was taken to hospital following a lengthy delay. Steph O'Brien took over between the posts but she was unable to prevent the Blues sealing a 4-1 victory through a goal from captain Laura Bassett.
