To encourage more adult participation in sport, and in particular female participation within Kent and Medway, the Kent County Football Association and Medway Council Sports Development Team are working in partnership with Medway Leisure, to utilise their excellent new facility Kicks Soccer Centre to introduce a new women's 5-a-side league.
They are hoping the growing trend in 5-aside football, the fantastic new 3rd Generation astroturf playing surface, purpose built facility and the growth and demand of the female game will attract new players and teams to support the women's only league. The brand new facility will be based at Strood Leisure Centre in Medway.
The leagues will be held on a Wednesday nights between 7pm and 9pm, alongside the leagues the Kent FA will be running some 'friendly' taster sessions for women to get involved in football and football fitness, offering the opportunity for female players to get involved without being in a team whatever age, ability or experience and with no pressure of competitve play. They will also aim to link to local female 11-a-side teams for anyone wishing to pursue playing further.
The league will start on Wednesday 9th January 2008 and initially run for 12 weeks. If you would like further information on women and girls football or the leagues please contact Liz Symons, Kent FA Women's and Girls Development Officer on (01634) 812032 or visit www.kentfa.com.
