West Ham Utd v Queen's Park Rangers - 2 Dec 2007 - Women's Football NewsF.A.Women's Cup - Road to the Final
Queen's Park Rangers ended the Cup run of Acton Sports Club in the last round with a 3-0 victory, to set themselves up for a repeat of last season's Third Round tie against West Ham Utd, who won that match 1-0.
West Ham come into the Cup for the first time in this round and they will be looking to build on a good run of results in the Southern Division of the Premier League in recent weeks.
West Ham were formed in 1991 and their rapid rise up the women's football ladder came at the start of the millennium, winning the Greater London League two years running under the managership of Kay Cossington and finishing as South East Combination Champions in 2005, winning promotion to the Premier League.
After two mid-table finishes, Tony Marshall took over as manager with Alex Bonner assisting during the summer and a number of talented young players joined the club. The team is captained by Julia Setford and the likes of Jessica Barling and Sam Pittuck have been key players, whilst the newcomers include goalkeeper Paris Smith, Grace Coombs, Natalie Grafton and highly promising strikers Katy Ling and England under-17 intenational Natalie Crinean have made a good impact. West Ham have been served by many people over the years including secretary John Greenacre who has been with the club since its early years.
The match takes place at Harlow Town FC and West Ham's promising young side will be favourites but Rangers will be seeking to avenge last season's defeat and cannot be underestimated.
