The England Deaf Women's Fustal Team's challenge for World Cup glory ended up with them taking the bronze medal for finishing in third place.
After winning all four group games and then beating Denmark 1-0 in the quarter finals, England faced a semi final against Germany but their bid to become World Champions came to an end as they went down to a 5-2 defeat.
This meant that England needed to take on Norway in the Third Place Play-off to decide who would win the bronze medals. After the sides battled out a 3-3 draw, the game went to a penalty shootout and England held their nerve to triumph 5-3 on spot kicks.
Their semi final conquerors Germany went on to win the Championship, beating Russia 3-2 in the Final.
The England squad, coached by Julie Callaghan and assisted by Leanne Hall, were as follows:
Carly Waters, Damaris Cooke, Jessica Everhurst, Cath Eyley, Susan McKeown (captain), Esther Maycock, Annie Straw, Laura Wiseman, Natasha Ryan, Sarah Page, Lisa Nepean, Lydia Docker.
