After a full year of preparation and identifying the best players, the England Women's Deaf Futsal Squad are in Bulgaria to compete in their first World Cup.
At monthly training weekends in the National Sports Centre, Lilleshall, the team faced hearing teams to increase their level of competition.
They will spend the next 12 days amongst elite players from across the Deaf globe, following the same format as the traditional World Cup with group qualification, and latter knockout rounds, with the final match taking place on Saturday 17th November.
The squad, named below, will play Japan, Norway, Turkey, Israel and Switzerland in their group stages over the next five days. They will enter their first game with a boosted confidence having received numerous 'good luck' messages, including a signed picture from Hope Powell and the Women's Senior Team.
Head Coach, Julie Callaghan says: "I am very excited about competing with the best teams in the World. The staff and players have spent the last year developing and preparing to ensure we can test ourselves against the best but also bring the World Cup home."
