Stef Curtis scored a stunning hat-trick as Bristol Academy increased their lead at the top of the National Division to six points by beating Cardiff City 4-1.
Academy went into the game on the back of their 6-2 humbling by Watford two days earlier, whilst Cardiff were buoyed by their first victory of the season at Charlton Athletic.
In a well contested Severnside derby, it was Academy who opened the scoring through a neat finish from Curtis, who had been restored up front after a spell in the centre of defence.
Academy enjoyed a good spell at the start of the second half with Cardiff standing firm until they were undone on the hour, Kerry Bartlett stooping to head home a Dani Ackerman cross.
Minutes later, Curtis made it three with a superbly struck shot on the turn from the edge of the area and the Republic of Ireland international completed a spectacular treble with another powerful strike from 30 yards which gave Rhian Nokes no chance.
Nicky Watts went close with a header but Cardiff never gave up and they were to have the final say through another fine goal, a dipping 25-yard shot from youngster Jordan Frayne to score with the final kick of the match.
