Holders Arsenal comfortably booked their place in the quarter finals of the UEFA Women's Cup by finishing top of their Second Phase Qualifying Group.
However Everton are out of the competition after narrowly missing out on finishing in the top two in their group.
Arsenal needed a point from their final game with Italian side Bardolino and, despite a disappointing performance on the day, they got what they required with a 3-3 draw. Julie Fleeting scored the only goal of the first half and Lianne Sanderson doubled the lead, but goals from Melania Gabbiadini and Raffaela Manieri brought the Italians level. Kelly Smith looked to have won the game with five minutes left but Manieri struck in injury time to earn Bardolino a draw on the day.
A victory was needed in the final game to give Everton any chance of qualifying and a Jody Handley double and Natasha Dowie gave them a 3-1 win over Valur of Iceland. However, Wezemaal picked up an unlikely point against Frankfurt to send them through to the last eight for the first time and leave Everton wondering what might have been.
The quarter final draw has paired Arsenal with French Champions Olympique Lyonnais, playing away in the first leg, and a victory will probably mean a re-run of last year's Final against Umea IK, who are playing Rapide Wezemaal.
