Arsenal through but heartbreak for Everton
 Women's Football News 14 Oct 2007
Arsenal are through to the quarter finals of the UEFA Women's Cup after winning their second group game, 7-0 against SV Neulengbach.
Following up from their opening 4-0 victory against Alma AKZH, Jayne Ludlow gave the Gunners an early lead with the first of her two goals. Julie Fleeting also added two and Karen Carney found the net as Arsenal made the game safe before half time, with Katie Chapman and Ciara Grant completing the scoring in the second half.
Arsenal play their final group game against Bardolino on Tuesday and need to avoid defeat in order to confirm themselves as group winners.
However Everton's second game ended in heartbreak as they almost picked up a memorable result against FFC Frankfurt.
Needing to improve on the disappointing 2-1 defeat against Rapide Wezemaal, Fara Williams gave Everton a third minute lead which was cancelled out on the half hour by Birgit Prinz. Everton looked to be on their way to earning a vital point but Conny Pohlers struck in injury time to give the German side victory.
Everton play Valur in their final game and, with the Icelandic side having beaten Wezemaal 4-0, Mo Marley's side must win by three goals in order to keep their qualification hopes alive.
