To encourage more adult participation in sport, and in particular female participation within Medway, Medway Council Sports Development Team and the Kent County Football Association are working in partnership with Medway Leisure to utilise their excellent new facility Kicks Soccer Centre to introduce a new women's five-a-side league.
The County FA is hoping that the growing trend in five-a-side football, the fantastic new surface and purpose built facility and the growth and demand of the female game will attract new players and teams to support the women's only league. The brand new facility will be based at Strood Leisure Centre in Medway.
The leagues will be held on a Wednesday nights between 7pm and 9pm and they will be running some 'friendly' taster sessions for women to get involved in football and offer the opportunity for female players to get involved without being in a team whatever age, ability or experience. They will also aim to link to local female 11-a-side teams for anyone wishing to pursue playing further. It could also be a great training night for your team fitness or for individuals to get involved in the sport.
The league will start on Wednesday 9th January 2008 and initially runs for 12 weeks. If you already have a team you can book your league place in advance by ringing (0800) 988 4257 or contact Liz Symons, Kent FA women's and girls development officer on (01634) 812032 or you can also visit www.kentfa.com for further information.
